One of the most popular ways to customize a car is with paint. Re-painting a car or even painting it a new color is a fast and sure way for others to notice your customization. Add new spoilers, a vanity license plate or a customized plate frame for a new look. A new set of rims on a car’s tires can also give it a new personality.

Interior

Besides the usual interior updates, like changing the upholstery inside, many people decide to amp up their sound system. Adding louder speakers or amps is some driver’s choice. However, there are more functional options such as an iPod dock or even a GPS system. Others go for a more in-your-face look with showy seat covers or bright-colored floor lighting. Both these customization options are affordable and easy to change over time.

Whatever it is you choose to customize your car with, choose wisely and in a practical fashion. Many of these customization choices cannot be reversed. Enjoy the customization process and make your car what you want it to be (without costing too much money, of course). A vision prepaid card will help you budget wisely for your customization projects. Good luck and happy customizing.

Estimating Car Gasoline Consumption

One the increase in prices with just about everything, it is no surprise that there has been an increase in the price of gasoline. The gasoline fuel consumption of your car is probably the biggest expense you will have to manage with while you own it. In the long term, gasoline fuel costs easily surpasses the purchase price of the vehicle itself. However, gas is something that your car needs.

You might try not to buy it, but without fuel, your car will just stay in the garage.
Fortunately, there are ways to minimize the gasoline consumption of a car to reduce the amount of money you have to pay to drive the car on a weekly basis. But before implementing these, you will need to know the current consumption of your vehicle in order to measure the savings.

This will include the amount of the gasoline consumption of your car on the road. The faster and farther distances you have to drive on the road makes the estimation of the consumption of your car higher.

You will see that by comparing what you have used in gasoline with the values given by your manufacturer, you will reach a result that is quite similar. This is because on the road, the fluctuations are small. If car engine runs at a steady pace, without changing gears constantly, then the consumption will not be as high. With highway driving, the estimated consumption of your car is needed. Once you verify what your vehicle consumes, you can budget more effectively for the amount of gasoline you have to buy each week.

Sticker Shock-looking at fuel costs

What are consumers looking for on a car sticker when it comes to fuel efficiency? A poll that was recently conducted by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the DOT (Department of Transportation) sheds some light on that particular question.
The top three, according to the poll, were fuel economy ratings, annual fuel costs, and fuel economy letter grade. Surprisingly the annual fuel costs was the most important, and the others followed meagerly behind.
The EPA and DOT conducted their survey according to the redesigned vehicles coming up, and the stickers that will be placed in the window of them on a car dealers lot. The EPA estimates that these new stickers will begin to be displayed on vehicles by the year 20112.
More than 55% of the consumers polled believed that fuel efficiency per city, highway, and combined miles per gallon (mpg) was a mandatory number that they looked for when choosing a vehicle.
Secondly was the annual fuel cost. A mere 15% of the consumers polled looked at this particular number. Some believe that if you are purchasing a $10,000 car that the annual fuel costs of $2,000 (for example) should be put on the sticker as well. Also, another surprising fact those that found this aspect important also would rather see monthly estimated fuel costs instead of annually. The EPA estimates that to fuel a vehicle for 5 years, the cost be around $10,000. Looking at those numbers definitely put a different focus than the normal things that potential buyers look for.
When it came to the letter grades on the sticker, most consumers didnt really take it into account when making a decision. From those consumers polled, it was an overall consensus that the letter grade aspect was confusing to them.
Lastly, surprisingly the least worried about point was greenhouse emission. Most customers polled didnt even take into account the environment or the pollution issue

Pricing and the MSRP

Do you want to understand what goes into the pricing of purchasing a car important to you? MSRP is the manufacturers suggested retail price, and that is what you as the consumer sees stated on each model car on the lot. The pricing can change year to year, and depending on the supply and demand of the vehicle can change within the same year. MSRP is also known as the sticker price.
As you can see the S stands for suggested, which means that the dealer is free to charge more or less since it is a suggested amount from the manufacturer. There are other fees that are not always listed on the sticker price. There are transport fees, and preparation fees that are in addition to the price of the vehicle. However, even though they do not show on the sticker price, does not mean that you will not pay for them in the final pricing of the vehicle.
There is also what is called invoice price. Car dealerships are independent businesses, so they have the autonomy to choose how the sale of each vehicle on their lot is handled. All dealers pay the same price to the manufacturer for the models that they choose to bring to their lots.
The dealer profit margin is the difference between the MSRP and the invoice price. If they sell it at sticker price it is minus the costs, charges and rebates. Dealers generally absorb the cost of national or regional advertising fees, so those monies have to be accounted for somewhere. The interest on loans is where the monies come from to be able to purchase vehicles from the manufacturers.
Sometimes the manufacturer will give incentives to the dealers with special fees; bonuses and rebates that will encourage them to sell those vehicles, and the dealer can pass on the savings to the customer if they so choose.

Family Cars Grow in Popularity – Be Aware of Cost Cuts

Each family seems to want something different in the “family car” and carmakers are stepping up to the challenge. The offerings of the new models have different packages , and unlike their prior year cousins, the makers remembered there are children in the backseat.
Some cars are less expensive because they cut corners on features that are almost unnoticed until after the purchase. For example, a joke is made about the number of cup holders in a vehicle but this is a needed feature when you are shuffling children back and forth and eating dinner on the go. Your child needs that cup holder in the back as much or more than the driver needs the cup holder. If the four year old doesn’t have a place to rest her Happy meal drink she will likely plop it down in the seat. You will find this later, much later when the sugary drink has dried into the upholstery. Another feature that is often cut from the car is the vents for the back seat. The customer may not even think to look for this at first, then as soon as little Joey gets hot in the back you search to redirect the air conditioner vent and there isn’t one. Of course in the winter, Joey will be cold and you will need to run the heater a little extra warm to fill the back with warm air.
Cash for clunkers increased sales of the economy car, because people were looking for a bargain deal. Now families feel a little more confident about the economy and they have turned out to shop for quality and a car that meets their needs. The bottom line here is to thoroughly check out your product before you buy. Don’t be fooled by the apparent good deal only to find out you can’t tolerate the item they chopped.

The Extra Costs of Cars

Making a decision to buy a car can be stressful. There are literally hundreds of makes and models to chose from, and making the wrong decision will be a problem for a number of years. There are more than a few things to consider when you are looking into getting a car for you and your family. Here are some things you might need to look at.

The cost of the car isn’t just limited to the cost to take it off the lot. Cars have other expenses as well. One thing to consider is the price of the insurance. Auto insurance Albany could be higher or lower, depending on the kind of car that you get. The worry that you will pay too much for your car insurance can easily be quelled by a simple phone call to your insurance provider. They can tell you the basic rates for the types of cars that you are interested in.

The other thing to think about is the repairs cost. This can be looked at in a very straightforward manner. Buying foreign will almost always cost more to repair. Usually, the technology is different as well as the parts. Often times, parts are harder to get and so you have to take that into account. Buying a foreign car can often cost more money to get the oil changed. Now, this doesn’t mean that extra little costs should deter you from buying a car that wasn’t made in this country. Ultimately, you should be able to choose what makes you happy. No car is worth buying if you can’t drive it off the lot without feeling like you made a mistake. Do your absolute best to trust your gut above all else.
